1) Course on Judicial Application of the European Community Law

 

Term: 26 May - 1 June 2010

Place: Murcia (Spain) and Luxembourg

Description: This Course on the Judicial Application of European Community Law offers a study and in-depth analysis of the institutional side to the running of the European Union as well as the key issues involved in the interpretation and application of Community law by European Institutions, in particular, the European Court of Justice. Since the beginning, one of its aims has been to examine the Community instruments of judicial cooperation in both civil and criminal matters.

 

Language: Spanish, English and French

Language level: A good command of the chosen course's language will be expected (Spanish, English or French); candidates will undergo a language test to have their language levels certified.

   

Financial terms: Participants will receive up to 350 Euros travel-expense allowance (home address - Murcia and Luxembourg-home address); and living-expense allowances amounting to 37.40 Euros per day (for Murcia) and 55.86 Euros per day (for Luxembourg) respectively. The organisation will pay for the accommodation in Murcia and Luxembourg as well as the Murcia-Luxembourg travel expenses.

 

2) Seminar of Comparative Study on European Legal System through Legal Language

 

Term: 10 May - 14 May 2010

Place: Murcia (Spain)

Target Group: judges and prosecutors

 

Description: Legal language training and knowledge of the French, English and Spanish legal systems and their corresponding laws, all prove to be of special interest to European judges wishing to create a common European legal culture. In particular, for judges who have to ensure the correct and fast management of disputes with cross-border dimensions and international judicial cooperation with the above-mentioned countries. Judging by the significant growth of judicial procedures requiring such assistance, there is an increasing urgency for such training to be improved. To that end, we are offering specific training to all those with a good command of these languages who wish to learn how to use them for professional purposes as well as training in the structure and operation of these legal systems.

3) Workshop on International Judicial Cooperation in Civil Matters through Legal Language

Description: Legal language training in the field of international judicial cooperation in civil matters proves to be of special interest to European judges wishing to create a common European legal culture. In particular, as regards judges who have to ensure the correct and fast management of letters of requests and other applications related to international judicial cooperation in civil matters an appropriate command of the English legal terminology used in this field of action seems essential in order to grant the fast, smooth and correct implementation of judicial assistance. Moreover, judging by the significant growth of judicial proceedings in which such cooperation is required, there is an increasing urgency for specific training in this area to be delivered. To that end, the Judicial School of the General Council of the Judiciary of Spain offers specific training on judicial cooperation in civil and commercial matters and legal English in the field of judicial cooperation in civil matters to European magistrates with a good command of English who wish to acquire specific knowledge of these subjects.

 

Language: English
